Five
years ago OBH took hold of the idea of an Events Weekend to bring to the
membership a weekend any archer would enjoy.
This year was the best yet with a record number of participants!
The Saturday banquet had 216 in attendance, our guest speaker
entertained us, we honored our successful hunters and tournament
members, auctioned the A&H elk tag for $22,000, had awesome items in
the auctions and raffles, and Bill Bechen
gave us a show to remember. The Indoor Championship broke its record of
participants with many youth and cub shooters; check out the website for
the new state records. There were
20 vendors showcasing their products, 6 came on board as our corporate
sponsors this year.
Saturday
Oregon State Police officer David Gifford offered his time to host a
Question and Answer session on game laws and violations. Saturday
also offered a 2 hour session with ODF&W and this session was open
to anyone. Wildlife Division Deputy Administrator Larry Cooper and SW
Regional Manager Steve Denney took their time to join us and have and
open forum. The Oregon State Elk
Calling Championship highlighted the afternoon with youth to pro
participating.
Sunday
is the time for the working meetings of the organization. These meetings
are when all members and clubs have their time to vote on issues, bring
ideas, suggestions and complaints to the executive board and other
members. These meetings are the
key to communication for the directions of OBH.
Please take the time to attend one next year.
As
you can tell, it is packed full of things to do and to top it off, Seven
Feathers Resort offers more to entertain us.
They are great to work with and we will be back there next year,
March 23,24 & 25, 2007.
Thanks
to everyone who made 2006 the best Conventions / Events Weekend ever!
